Callie Tai
Callie is a mother of two grown up children. She was raised in a small hamlet in Melaka before spending part of her childhood in Muar. She completed her tertiary education in Business Studies (Accountancy) in New Zealand in 1990 and embarked on her professional career in Singapore before returning to Malaysia in 2001 and co-founded both Justlife Group Sdn Bhd—retailer of Earth-friendly products, and Blue Oasis (M) Sdn Bhd—importer and distributor of organic and biodynamic products. The ethos of these businesses are a manifestation of her belief that economic activities can and should be a natural partner with the wider community.
Amongst her attributes are respect for the small local business, local farmers, healthy eating, and the environment, which were reflected in some of the activities organised by the companies, such as the Earth Day Carnival. A short stint in New Zealand from 2013 to 2016, while her children attended a Steiner school, she volunteered as the school Board of Trustee and were deeply involved with the local biodynamic and Anthroposophic community. These experiences left a strong imprint on her.
She is one of the co-organisers of IPMT Malaysia and Kolisko Conference based on Anthroposophy principles, reaching out to the wider communities in Malaysia and neighbouring countries. Recently, she co-founded Rasamasa Enterprise with a group of like-minded souls and acts as a mentor for young budding entrepreneurs who share the same passion in healthy eating, and to propagate healthy home fermentation and cooking.
Kongsi Co-op is a step further which serves as a platform for the wider community who shares the same values and spirits to come together to serve the needs of the community at large.
